What is a life coach?

So many of you have asked me what this whole coaching thing is about and in your asking I have sensed your confusion and/or skepticism about what exactly coaching is -- two reactions that are totally understandable! In the age of the internet "coaching" has practically become a dirty word. With online coaches being a dime a dozen, promising you instant results and quick fixes to your problems with messaging and social advertising peppered with phrases like "boss babe" and "hustle" thrown into the mix, it's easy to see why you would sense an air of dis-ingenuousness or false promises.  I'm not saying that these coaches are bad or unhelpful or that they won't help you create results, but I do think that we as coaches can do a better job at providing real value and education around what that value is instead of using flowery jargon to describe it. I too have been flowery in my descriptions which is why I wanted to get crystal clear with you in this email and help you better understand why I believe coaching to be so powerful.

I like to describe coaching as having the best boss/manager/mentor that you can imagine. Go ahead, close your eyes for a minute right now and imagine this person in your mind's eye. It's someone who challenges you to think outside of your own perspective, empowers you to do more than you ever dreamed you could, cheers you on with unwavering encouragement when you need it most, rolls up their sleeves and works alongside you, gives you clear, direct and concise feedback when you need it, actually cares about you as a person, assists you in cultivating a vision and co-authors a game plan with you to make that vision your everyday reality.  A coach is more than a friend or partner but a true collaborator in making your dreams a tangible part of your existence.  A coach is a reflection of the you that you most want to be.

The coaches that I've had in my life that fit the description that I wrote above have changed my life(and no I'm not saying that to be fluffy, I mean it). For example:

-My life coach Jill helped me realize how much past hurt/trauma I was carrying around with me from growing up with divorced parents. If it wasn't for her, I'd probably still be stuck playing the blame game in the triangle of picking sides in my family. Instead I now understand that everyone is doing the best they can and have a healthy relationship with all sides of my family.

-My coach/mentor/boss Stacey taught me some of the most valuable lessons in being a leader -- from using WE language to helping your team achieve their dreams even when they have nothing to do with their day-job. {listen to episode #2 of the podcast for all of my Stacey lessons).

-My mentor Andrea showed me what true sponsorship looks like when wrote countless recommendation emails for me early in my career when I was job searching.

-My boss/coach Marc showed me how to put together a strategic framework and how to ask more questions rather than always jumping in with an answer.

-My business coach Meg has showed me what it means to be CONSISTENT and how to show up for myself and my business every single day.

There are so many other examples, but you get the point. When you find a true coach, one that embodies the description above you will see GROWTH, you will see YOURSELF more clearly than ever and you will find someone in your corner that wasn't there before.

That's exactly what I want to do for you. I want to be that person in your corner that person that's cheering you on and helping you co-author your game plan. Whether you're looking for someone to help you put together a plan to leave your 9-5 so you can be home with your family OR someone to help you master your calendar OR someone to help you identify what your big dreams OR someone to help you navigate your first job out of school OR someone to walk alongside you as you prioritize your relationships OR go after that new promotion, I'm your girl. I'll never pretend to know all the answers but I'll always stand by you and challenge you and cheer you on.

I know that you want to end 2019 stronger, happier and more fulfilled than when you started this year so let me help you. Let's do it together.

Since my coaching program is new(and I'm still catching my sea legs) I'm only offering 3 spots between now and the end of the year. Do you want to be one of the three? Send me an email at info@brittanyneish.com and we’ll get you signed up!
